Coffee leveler is used to flatten and leveling your dose in the portafilter before tamping it.

Usually, when you put ground coffee into a portafilter basket, not only isn't it flat, but when you try to tamp it, it isn't level - the coffee on one side of the basket is higher than on the other, and the resulting surface is slanted.

It's simply for leveling,and also for tamping(the other head,flat side); Just put it down on top of the coffee in the portafilter, and twist it. It will flatten the surface and make it LEVEL. Then it's fit for perfect tamping.
